چکیده

Background Previous studies using positron emission tomography demonstrated that decrease in global coronary flow reserve (CFR) predisposes to major cardiac events in patients with coronary artery disease. However, the value of MR assessment of CFR has not been clarified for predicting future cardiac events in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The purpose of this study was to evaluate a prognostic significance of CFR measurement in the coronary sinus in patients with HCM.

Impaired coronary flow reserve determined by MR measurement of coronary sinus flow predicts adverse outcome in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease

Background Recent studies demonstrated that Rb PET-derived myocardial perfusion reserve has a significant prognostic impact on the prediction of cardiac events in patients assessed for myocardial ischemia. Regional myocardial ischemia and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) defined by cardiac MR imaging are also reported as significant prognosticators for future cardiac events. However, the progn...

Prognostic value of echocardiography-derived coronary flow reserve.

To the Editor: We read with great interest the paper by Nakanishi et al entitled “Impaired coronary flow reserve as a marker of microvascular dysfunction to predict long-term cardiovascular outcomes, acute coronary syndrome and the development of heart failure”.1 The authors demonstrate that coronary flow reserve (CFR) is a significant and independent determinant of long-term cardiovascular eve...

The non-invasive documentation of coronary microcirculation impairment: role of transthoracic echocardiography

Transthoracic Doppler echocardiographic-derived coronary flow reserve is an useful hemodynamic index to assess dysfunction of coronary microcirculation. Isolated coronary microvascular abnormalities are overt by reduced coronary flow reserve despite normal epicardial coronary arteries. These abnormalities may occur in several diseases (arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterole...

Coronary microvascular dysfunction in patients with cardiomyopathies.

Anginal symptoms and electrocardiographic changes suggestive of myocardial ischemia, despite angiographically normal coronary arteries, are common in patients with cardiomyopathies and those with left ventricular hypertrophy secondary to pressure overload. Studies using positronemission tomography (PET) to measure regional myocardial blood flow have demonstrated that maximum myocardial blood fl...

DIFFUSE CORONARY ARTERIAL ECTASIA WITH HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY

A 40 year old male, a known case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, was admitted for catheterization. At catheterization and angiography, septum was hypertrophied to about 5cm and diffuse coronary artery aneurysm was revealed. We found no previous report of coronary artery aneurysm in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
